Staying in Control When You Use Real-Money Apps

Last updated · By Y1.com Help Centre Editorial Team

For adults aged 18 and over only

You must be 18 or older to download, register on or deposit into any real-money gaming app, including Y1.com. If you are younger, stop here and close the app.

Age matters beyond the rules. An operator may ask for identity checks before paying out, and an account opened by a minor can be shut with its balance. Parents can keep Install unknown apps switched off for every browser and file manager on a child’s phone, since that permission is what an APK install needs.

Think of each deposit as spent

The healthiest way to use a gaming app is to treat money you put in the same way you treat a cinema ticket: paid for, used up, gone. If something comes back, that is a bonus, not the plan.

Every game in the lobby is designed so that, over time, more money flows in than out. No pattern, VIP level or referral tier changes that. Games are a pastime, and nobody should rely on them to pay a bill.

Set your limits before the app is open

Limits chosen in advance hold up better than ones decided after a losing round. Use at least two of these methods together.

  1. Fix a monthly entertainment budget

Pick one amount for the month from what is left after rent, groceries, EMIs and savings. Write it down. When it is used, you are done until next month, whatever your balance looks like.

    Hypothetical example

Someone who sets aside ₹1,000 for the month and loses ₹600 in the first week has ₹400 left for the remaining three weeks, not a fresh ₹1,000.

  2. Put a timer on the app

Android’s Digital Wellbeing lets you set a daily app timer. Open Settings, find Digital Wellbeing and parental controls, choose Dashboard, pick the Y1.com app and set a time. Menu names differ between phone brands, so search Settings for “app timer” if you cannot see it.

  3. Lower what your UPI app can send

Many banking and UPI apps let you reduce a daily transfer limit or pause UPI on an account. Options vary by bank, so check your app’s settings or ask the bank. A lower cap stops a late-night top-up from turning into a large one.

  4. Never play with borrowed money

That includes credit cards, loan apps, pay-later services and money from friends. If you need to borrow to keep going, the budget has already been broken.

  5. Decide about bonuses in advance

The first-deposit bonus option on the Deposit screen can be unticked. Leaving it ticked brings a wagering condition, which can keep you betting longer than you meant to before any money becomes withdrawable.

Warning signs to take seriously

Any one of these is a signal to stop and step back. Two or more means it is time to talk to someone.

  • You top up again within minutes of losing, hoping to recover it.
  • The amount you think about depositing keeps creeping higher.
  • You play late into the night or open the app first thing in the morning.
  • You feel low, angry or jittery on days you cannot play.
  • You have lied to family about where money or time went.
  • You have missed a payment, borrowed or sold something to fund play.
  • Bonuses, Spin the Wheel or ranking countdowns decide when you open the app.
  • You promised yourself a break and could not keep it.

Taking a break or stepping away for good

A break works best when both the app and the money route are harder to reach. Do these in order.

  1. Ask customer service to close or restrict your account

In the app, open the Wallet and tap the headset icon. Say clearly that you want the account closed or restricted for gambling reasons, and screenshot the conversation. If you have a withdrawable balance, request that withdrawal first.

  2. Uninstall and remove the APK file

Delete the app, then open your Files or Downloads folder and remove the APK too. Turn off Install unknown apps for your browser so a reinstall is not one tap away.

  3. Block the payment route

Lower or switch off UPI limits on the account you used, and ask your bank whether it can block payments to gaming merchants.

  4. Leave groups that pull you back

Exit Telegram or WhatsApp groups that share offers, invite links or “sure-win” tips, and mute anyone who keeps sending them.

  5. Tell one person you trust

Someone who knows about your break can check in and notice if it slips. It does not have to be family.
